Marquette guides its residents and tourists

As spring kicks off early in the Upper Peninsula this year, Northern Options Energy Center is touting the recently-developed GreenWays maps of Marquette’s non-motorized trails. Marquette is six miles from end to end and boasts over 18 miles of paved bike paths. The GreenWays maps are available for free at restaurants, shops and museums throughout the city. Pictured at right, Northern Options’ Jennifer Silverston checks out one of 13 permanent maps posted along the bike path to help guide people around the city. The map project was a collaborative effort. Partners included Marquette County Active Living Task Force, Northern Michigan University, State of Michigan Energy Office, Marquette Cool Cities Committee, the City of Marquette, Marquette Country Convention and Visitors Bureau and 17 local business sponsors.

Northern Options is a State of Michigan Energy Demonstration Center and a branch of Urban Options, Inc. For more information, contact Northern Options Energy Center at (906) 226-1136.
