Save energy, money and the environment
with Energy Star-rated products

What is the Energy Star program?

ENERGY STAR is a government-backed program helping businesses and individuals save money and protect the environment through superior energy efficiency. Products that have earned the ENERGY STAR label have met strict energy efficiency standards set by U.S. EPA and U.S. DOE.

Look for the familiar ENERGY STAR logo when making your next purchase!

Energy Star products (sample listing)
Appliances: Clothes washers, refrigerators, dishwashers
Heating and cooling: Furnaces, air conditioners, programmable thermostats
Lighting: Compact fluorescents, light fixtures, ceiling fans
Office equipment: Computers, copiers, fax machines
Home electronics: DVD products, televisions, cordless phones

Did you know…?

1. The average household spends $1,400 each year on energy bills. By selecting ENERGY STAR qualified products you can cut usage by up to 30%, saving more than $400 each year.

2. The average home is responsible for more air pollution than the average car.

3. In 2003 alone, Americans-with the help of ENERGY STAR-prevented greenhouse gases equivalent to those of 18 million cars, saved enough energy to power 20 million homes and saved $9 billion in energy costs.

MEC operates our ENERGY STAR program in part under a contract with the Small Business Association of Michigan, ENERGY STAR Promotion Project.
