Land
Programs Associate Ben Stupka accepted the Smart Commute
Challenge Award from Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero on behalf
of the MEC staff. MEC won the challenge by having the
highest percentage (54%) of employee/days where trips
to work were made by means other than a single occupancy
vehicle. For the week of May 15, 19 MEC staffers and
employees from about 30 other companies around Lansing
walked, biked, carpooled and telecommuted. For the victorious
efforts, MEC will receive a bicycle from the MSU Bike
Project that staff will use to—you guessed it!—Smart
Commute to lunches and nearby appointments.
