The House met throughout the weekend, often late into the night, taking unsuccessful votes on revenue increases. The House is again in session today. House Republicans continue to refuse to vote for any revenue increases, and continue to refuse to specify which cuts they would make.

SENATE

On the floor:

SB 502: A bill to require a complainant to provide his or her name to the department of environmental quality when submitting a complaint concerning a farm.

HB 4597: A bill to provide for hunting on Department of Natural Resources controlled land.

In committee:

Natural Resources and Environmental Affairs will meet Wednesday at 1:00 PM to take up:

  • SB 628: A bill to revise and clarify that the requirement that owner of public beach provides access to safety and rescue equipment is a governmental function under the health code.
  • SB 629: A bill to prohibit jumping, diving, or swimming off any pier in the Great Lakes.
  • SR 87: A resolution to urge the Governor to reestablish the Groundwater Conservation Advisory Council.
  • SR 95: A resolution to urge the International Joint Commission and the United States Army Corps of Engineers to expedite studies investigating the effect of dredging and erosion of the St. Clair River on the water levels of the upper Great Lakes and, if necessary, take prompt actions to remediate any impacts.
  • SCR 9: A concurrent resolution to memorialize the Congress of the United States to enact legislation to provide funding for the continuing restoration and protection of the Great Lakes.

Energy and Public Utilities will meet Thursday at 1:00 PM to discuss a long range energy plan for Michigan.

HOUSE

On the floor:

SB 350: A bill to create an animal welfare fund.

In committee:

The Transportation: Public Transit committee will meet Wednesday at 9 AM for presentations by Megan Owen, Executive Director, Transportation Riders United; Steven Gutterman, Policy Chair, Transportation Riders United; Norm White, Director, Detroit Department of Transportation; and Heather Carmona, Executive Director, Woodward Avenue Action Association
